Tootjainfo: "Style: Imperial Baltic PorterABV: 12%
Additions: cocoa, coconut, maple syrup, vanilla
Collaboration: Pühaste
malts: barley, oats, rye, wheat plus oat flakes for texture, and 4 additions that make it a dessert: cocoa, coconut, maple syrup, vanilla. On paper, it looks like a shopping list for an afternoon snack. In the glass, it's much more serious.
The FEATURING SERIES is the series where we invite breweries we respect to blend their world with ours.
- Nose: bitter cocoa and toasted coconut first, then vanilla, and maple syrup which arrives last on a base of roasted malt.
- Taste: dense without being sticky. Cocoa and coconut lead the initial taste, maple and vanilla round out the mid-palate, and rye brings that spicy touch that cuts through the sweetness just before it becomes pastry-like. Long, warming finish.
THE COLLAB:
Pühaste, Tartu, Estonia. They make just about everything, but it's their powerful dark beers and their barrel-aged Silver Series that have made them famous far beyond the Baltic.
This collaboration wasn't decided by email: it was our second visit to their festival that sealed the deal. And while you're reading this, the rematch is brewing at their place.
Brewing a Baltic porter with Estonians is like playing on their home turf: the Baltic is their sea"
